In the past 33 years since our organisation was formed, the needs in our region – particularly economic and social - have changed markedly. A branding change to Toi Foundation provides a platform to better support our community objectives and future direction.

We launched our new Strategic Framework last year, so it makes sense to rebrand to better reflect some of the changes and help us achieve our purpose. The Strategic Framework sees the Foundation continuing to support Taranaki in its traditional, philanthropic way, while also looking to the future with a focus on strategic and innovative granting and impact investing to achieve even greater long-term and transformational benefits.

Toi has two meanings – ‘origin and source’, and ‘tip or summit’; reflecting our organisation’s commitment to contribute to the success and wellbeing of Taranaki and its people. Both the name and the design of the logo reflect our organisation’s purpose – our people (coming together), our land and prominent landmarks, our history, culture and the importance of partnerships.

The brand has a contemporary design which references the woven stitches of Māori tukutuku panels. Triangles within the design and a three-letter name, reflect Taranaki’s geographic landmarks (Taranaki Maunga, Pouakai and Kaitake) as well as Toi Foundation’s three strategic pou – Funding, Effective Organisation and Asset Management. The ‘O’ of TOI is a ring that represents the area around Taranaki Maunga, that speaks of inclusion and collaboration.

Alongside our logo (which talks about Taranaki Maunga as a central landmark, together with Pouakai and Kaitake), we have four contemporary designs that represent our organisation’s values – collaborative, innovative, focused and integrity.

The rebrand follows the release of our Strategic Framework in 2020, which sees us continuing to support Taranaki in our traditional, philanthropic way, while also looking to the future with a focus on strategic and innovative granting and impact investing to achieve even greater long-term and transformational benefits in areas of greatest need.

No. The only change you will see will be in any communications from Toi Foundation after 1 May 2021, which will feature our new branding.

Toi Foundation (formerly TSB Community Trust) has a holding company that owns and monitors the organisation’s key assets, 100% of TSB and a controlling share in Fisher Funds Management Ltd. Each year, TSB and Fisher Funds Management Ltd pay dividends to the holding company, the holding company then pays dividends to Toi Foundation. These dividends enable the Foundation to complete its philanthropic work. Therefore, if people bank with TSB and have their Kiwisaver with Fisher Funds Management Ltd they contribute to the community.

No, the branding changes only affect TSB Community Trust (now Toi Foundation). Although Toi Foundation has a controlling share of Fisher Funds Management Ltd and owns TSB, these entities operate as separate businesses. The way TSB and Fisher Funds contribute to Toi Foundation’s work remains unchanged.
