Waitangi Day Celebrations 2024

More than 3000 people attended New Plymouth’s Waitangi Day 2024 celebrations at Ngāmotu Beach. The event, a collaboration between Ngāti Te Whiti and the New Plymouth District Council, featured local acts The Groove Hutt and Trip Change.

Toi Foundation funding of $7.5K helped with artist, technical and equipment costs.
“It’s important to us that we continue to deliver free, family-friendly events so the extra funding means we can continue to do that,” said Lisa Ekdahl, NPDC Events Lead.

“For us this event is a great way to bring people in our community together to celebrate Te Tiriti o Waitangi while enjoying time down at the beach with friends and whānau.

"We are grateful for the continued support of the Toi Foundation. Without that support we wouldn’t be able to provide the level of entertainment and activities we do that have made it so popular.”
