Established as a Charitable Trust in 1988, Toi Foundation (under the name TSB Community Trust) has played a critical role in the ongoing growth and development of Taranaki. Our organisation's support has been pivotal in terms of putting our region on the major events and initiatives map, nationally and internationally.

When the foundation was formed (then as TSB Community Trust), its income was derived from its asset TSB Bank Ltd (TSB). The foundation then increased its assets in 2015 by purchasing shares in Fisher Funds Management Ltd (Fisher Funds), and now has a controlling share in Fisher Funds. As the foundation’s income has grown, so has its philosophy and focus.

As per the Trust Deed, income received by the Foundation can be applied towards supporting not-for-profit organisations, and more recently for-profit organisations at the invited discretion of the Foundation, within our legislative boundary.

Since its establishment, Toi Foundation has contributed more than $200 million to Taranaki people and projects. To charitable, cultural, philanthropic, recreational, and other purposes - all of which are designed to benefit the environment and local organisations and people.

Meeting the needs of our community

As we’ve matured, we’ve grown alongside our community. Our infrastructure has strengthened and we’ve expanded our staff so we can better support grant making and the ways we engage with our community. We are no longer just a grant maker – we also work alongside organisations and our community helping them to develop their capacity and their own solutions.

Today, we have an ongoing and increasingly important role in supporting our communities to build a thriving, inclusive and equitable Taranaki.

Rebrand

In 2021, we rebranded as Toi Foundation, through a desire to better reflect our organisation’s new and more impactful strategic framework and values.

30+ YEARS

A video was created to mark our 30th year anniversary and talks about that important milestone as well as celebrating the work our organisation does in the community.
